Kids Bike Accessories

Learning to ride a bike is a rite of passage that all children will eventually undertake. Once they have gone through the process of learning to ride the bike and have gotten their stabilisers off, it is more than likely that their bike will become one of their favourite possessions. when teaching children to ride a bike it is important to find a bike that they will be excited enough about that they will want to learn, and the original frustration of trying to pedal and steer at the time will be outweighed by their desire to get out and show all of their friends their bike and what it can do.

The choice of bike is very important in this, ensuring it is not too big or small, and has a theme or decorations that your child will respond to, but sometimes it can be a simple matter of finding the right accessories to make your child’s bike seem more exciting and get them wanting to ride it as soon as possible. Thankfully there are plenty of kids bike accessories that you can look into to make any bike your child’s perfect form of transport!

Firstly, look into simply decorative accessories, and these will be different for every child. For little girls, streamers are very popular, as kids love the way they look as they are riding around, streaming out around them in their favourite colour. Streamers don’t have to be expensive and even if the bike you choose doesn’t come with them, they would be easy to attach. For girls or boys, a basket or bucket to the front or rear can give them the opportunity to head out for the day taking anything they need with them, without feeling encumbered by a bag or rucksack. Whether they just want their favourite toy to come and enjoy the ride with them, or want to pack drinks and snacks for a day out with friends, a basket will mean they don’t have to worry about how to transport everything.

You could think about attaching a horn or other noisemaker to the front - something that is bound to be very popular with little boys! And some bikes even come with a hose or water bottle holder so that kids can enjoy a drink some days, and on hot days spray their friends as part of a bike based game!

Safety options are also important, and a horn can be great for this, letting people know that your child is coming as they round a corner. If there is a chance your child will be out in the dark, fit a pedal-powered light to the front, which will show people exactly where your child is on the road, and preventing accidents.
